These are (my) photos of the gating project of Nutty Putty cave. The land owners (SITLA) grew increasingly concerned about the hazards of the unprepared visitor to the cave that rests on their property. More and more rescue call outs went to this cave than any-other in a few short months. The other option was to cement the cave shut. Fortunately the option to gate the cave and allow controlled access was chosen. The project was spearheaded by Jon Jasper of the Timpanogos Grotto of the National Speleological Society. Jon had chosen the location of the gate just INSIDE the entrance rather than over it. This would deter the casual gate break in. It took us roughly 13 hours to complete the project. Access to the cave can be had by going to the Timpanogos Grotto website www.caves.org/grotto/timpgrotto
